The ADM Tiger softball team suffered just their third loss in the past 11 games dating back to last season with a 2-1 defeat to the hands of I-35 Friday night. It was round one of what would be a shortened weekend tournament in Winterset.
Offense would come at a premium with both teams connecting on just five hits a piece. The Lady Tigers had trouble connecting on many opportunities both at the plate and in the field after 12 runners were left on base while committing an uncharacteristic three errors on defense.
The Lady Tigers actually jumped on the scoreboard first in the 5th after Emily Hatchet advanced around the base paths thanks to a wild pitch and and error. The hometown Lady Roadrunners would bring the equalizer home thanks to a solo home run off the bat of Riley Morris in the bottom of the 7th. That would send the two teams into extra innings but ADM could not capitalize on their opportunities while I-35 would scrape one run across on an ADM error. That would come in the bottom of the 9th giving the Lady Tigers no opportunity to climb back and suffering their first loss of the season.
The rest of the Winterset tournament to be held on Saturday was cancelled due to weather.
As for this week the first action takes flight when ADM takes on their first conference road contest of the season against Perry with a 7:30 pm start time.
