Win number one of the high school baseball season for the Greene County Rams took place Thursday in Collins over CMB by a final of 8-0. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team scored all eight runs in the first three innings and pitchers Ben Wilkins and Dylan Fouch combined on a one-hit pitching gem as the Rams evened their Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, and overall record, to 1-1.
Wilkins tossed the first six innings, allowing one hit, two walks, and one hit batsman, while striking out five. Fouch pitched the final frame. He had one walk, one hit batter, and one strike out.
Greene County had seven hits from seven different players. Austin Delp doubled and drove in a run, while Trey Tucker had a single and an RBI. Others with base hits were Wilkins, Tom Gannon, Chase Stoline, Logan Lansman, and Fouch.
The Rams are off until Tuesday when they’ll host Roland-Story at Allensworth Field in Jefferson in the home opener. The action can be heard on KG98 around 7:15 p.m.
