Greene County junior Rachael Danielson plays in the Class 4A Iowa High School Girls’ State Golf Tournament tomorrow and Wednesday at the Marshalltown Country Club Course. Danielson won the May 22 Region 1 Tournament in Denison and is making her second straight State appearance.

Coach Heath Telleen and Danielson have set some high goals for the tournament including a top five individual finish and the coach talks with Raccoon Valley Radio about them. “I think in golf and in life in general, having goals is an important thing. Setting goals high is very important and that goal is very achievable. Right now she’s at eighth in the state, but there’s not a lot to separate three through eight, or even past that. That would be a great goal for her to achieve.”

The coach added his player may be on more of a business trip this time as opposed to being happy just to make it as a sophomore. Danielson is the first Greene County golfer to play in a State Golf tourney, and the first from a Jefferson-based program since 1964-65 to qualify for two State tournaments.
