Dallas Co Supervisors

The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday morning in regular session.

A portion of the meeting was devoted to three public hearings, though two were recessed until next week as the Board wanted to gather more information. The two recessed hearings involved Tyson Foods in Perry. Tyson and Dallas County Conservation had worked out an agreement where a portion of the Raccoon River Valley Bike Trail would be relocated at Tyson’s expense, so they could expand part of their operations.

However, the easement could be nullified pending the decision of the City of Perry regarding the land the trail would need to be moved to. The Board recessed the public hearing so they could reopen it next week without having to publish another public hearing. Because they felt it best to deal with both items relating to Tyson at the same time, the second hearing was recessed immediately so the Board could move onto the third public hearing. The third hearing involved a services contract with Cost Advisory, though there were no public objections so the Board unanimously voted to continue the annual agreement.

Other topics discussed included three items related to the new law enforcement center. They approved a contract with the Samuels Group to become the project’s construction management, an amendment to the contract with Design Alliance for architectural work, and approved the recount results for the Clive 5 precinct for the recent bond referendum vote. Finally, the Board held a future space needs workshop, and two closed sessions to discuss the purchase of particular real estate and pending litigation.
