Heat and lane assignments for the May 18-19-20 Iowa High School Coed State Track & Field Championships are out. The three-day spectacle is at Drake Stadium in Des Moines and all three Raccoon Valley Radio stations will carry updates on area athletes all three days. Be listening for updates for classes 1A, 2A, and 3A.
Greene County has four girls’ events and two for boys that qualified in Class 3A. Carter Morton will be in the boys’ high jump at 2 p.m. Thursday. Olivia Hansen will be in the 200 meter dash preliminary at 4:20 p.m. Thursday in heat 1, lane 8, and 2016 girls’ high jump State Champion Megan Durbin jumps at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
On Friday, the Rams will have two events, starting with the girls’ long jump at 4:30 p.m. with Janelle Brophy, and the boys will run at 6:50 p.m. in the prelims of the 4 x 100 meter relay in heat 2, lane 7. That quartet is made up of seniors Logan Lansman, Chase Stoline, Nick Schroeder, and freshman Colby Kafer.
Saturday morning at 9:20 the Rams run the sprint medley relay final for girls with Megan Doran, Megan Durbin, Melanie Doran, and Olivia Hansen. They’ll be in heat 1, lane 3.
On Thursday and Friday, Classes 1A and 4A compete first starting at 9 a.m., then the 2A and 3A classes move in at 2 p.m. Saturday is an all finals day at Drake Stadium starting at 9 a.m. with all four classes in action throughout the day.
