This week is recognized as National Police Week and it’s a time to acknowledge those in our local police departments that keep the public safe.
Greene County Dispatcher Lesa Seil is in her 14th year as a dispatcher. She says she’s known as the “mother hen” and makes sure she keeps all the Jefferson Police Officers and the Sheriff’s Deputies safe in any incident. Seil points out that she has an awesome working relationship with and cares about each individual she works with on a daily basis. Even when she’s not working in the communications room of the law enforcement center, she still worries about the officers anytime she hears a siren or her scanner goes off.
As for Jan Clouse, she has a slightly different perspective being married to Police Chief Mark Clouse.
“Well it’s never boring. Of course they have long hours and a lot of times they are misunderstood from certain situations and a lot of times I don’t feel like get the acknowledgement like they should.”
She adds that she is proud of the work her husband and the other officers do to keep the public safe, but she still gets nervous for her husband putting his life on the line everyday.
“Of course there’s certain situations but I am happy it’s Jefferson, small town compared to what you hear in the larger cities. But there’s always a chance.”
Clouse encourages everyone to thank any officer they see this week for the jobs that they do.
