Greene County and Perry will have automatic qualifiers at the Class 3A girls’ State track and field meet May 18-19-20 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. All first and second place performances at the Denison State Qualifying Meet on Thursday automatically qualified. Others hope to get in on an at-large basis.

The Jayettes were second in the distance medley relay in 4:27.50 with Rachel Kinney, Breanna Penenger, Haley Vaughn, and Sidney Vancil. Grace Stewart was second in the 3,000 meter run in 11:45.60 and also automatically qualified. The Jayettes were third in the 4 x 800 meter relay in 10:44.99 with Penenger, Vaughn, Damaris Robles, and Vancil.

Greene County won the long jump with Janelle Brophy at 15′ 8″. The Rams were second in the 200 meter dash with Olivia Hansen at 27. 73 seconds and second in the sprint medley relay in 1:53.40 with Megan Doran, Megan Durbin, Melanie Doran, and Hansen. Greene County was third in the high jump at 5′ 5″ with Durbin; third in the 4 x 100 meter relay with the Doran sisters, Hansen and Durbin; third in the 4 x 200 relay with Melanie Doran, Tieryn Tucker, Durbin, and Hansen.

The host Denison-Schleswig girls won the team title with 176 points, followed by Glenwood 126, Harlan 123, Carroll 96, Greene County 70, Atlantic 66, Sergeant Bluff-Luton 43, and 38 for Perry.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union is scheduled to release the list of at-large qualifiers this afternoon.
