It was a successful slate of three games this past weekend for the ADM girls soccer team who went a perfect 3-0 during their weekend tournament in Adel.
The Lady Tigers welcomed in a nine team field which included six top 16 ranked teams spread out across classes 1A and 2A. All of the opponents ADM would face on the tournament would be ranked and it would start with a match up against previously unbeaten Gilbert, 3rd in the recent class 1A rankings. After the ADM Lady Tigers narrowly defeated Gilbert 1-0 on Friday they were back taking on class 1A’s 5th ranked Council Bluffs St. Albert for their first game on Saturday.
In that match up it would be a strong showing once again for senior Sydney Bertman putting on a two goal, one assist performance. Both Bertman and Izzy LaFollete would knock down goals in the first half to put ADM ahead of Council Bluffs St. Albert 2-0 at the intermission. The Lady Tigers would then tack on their third and final goal of the game with 23 minutes left in the contest. A phenomenal corner kick by Allie Cook would find Sydney Bertman in stride and in turn Bertman would find the back of the net for her second goal of the game. ADM would utilize their exceptional ball handling skills to keep control of the contest winning 3-0.
ADM’s last match up of the day came in a class 2A top ten showdown as the 4th ranked Lady Tigers would take on 7th ranked Clear Creek-Amana. It was labeled the highlight match of the tournament but it would be an even bigger highlight of a match of the Lady Tigers who dominated possession of the ball and put on an offensive clinic earning a 6-1 victory. Four Lady Tigers would score in that contest including Sydney Bertman who put on a hat trick with three goals. Delaney Barton would have a monster game as well with a hat trick of her own posting up three assists to go along with her one goal. Jordan Hook would establish her second goal of the season with just 9 seconds remaining in the first half while Brianna Heimann would round out the scoring with her goal with just 15 minutes remaining in the game. The Lady Clippers would score a consolation goal in the ladder third of the contest but by then the game was fully in ADM’s favor.
Defense would suffocate any opposing offensive attacks near the 10 yard line throughout the tournament and Delaney Bertman would play almost flawless goalkeeping allowing just one goal while saving 14 for the tournament. With the win ADM not only advances to 5-0 on the young season, but climbs their home winning streak to 24 straight home wins.
It’s a quick turnaround for ADM as they welcome in Dallas Center-Grimes this evening beginning at 7:00 pm. Meanwhile the Tiger boys will be swapping venues as they take on the Mustangs at DC-G stadium at 7:00 pm.
