With Earth Day coming up this weekend, Dallas County Conservation is celebrating with a program called “Eating Well While Saving the Earth.”

Iowa State University Outreach Nutritionist Mary Krisco will be hosting the event at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Forest Park Museum. She hopes to educate attendees about how their food choices affect their own health and the health of the earth. The program will feature an interactive presentation on reducing, reusing, and recycling food waste. Topics covered include how to eat better, saving money on food, feeding the hungry, fighting against pollution, and how those relate to each other.

The event is free, though the conservation department asks that people register ahead of time. A “Healthy and Homemade” cookbook will also be available to purchase for $5.
