The Grand Junction City Council recently appointed a new mayor.

At their regular meeting on Tuesday, the Council appointed Teresa Lansman as mayor. She served previously as mayor pro tem on the council. She was the interim mayor following the resignation of former Mayor Dave Kersey, who resigned in late February. Council member Pierre Kellogg was then appointed to mayor pro tem and he tells Raccoon Valley Radio why he was in favor of appointing Lansman to take over as mayor.

“Her leadership skills are exceptional. She’s up to speed on everything that’s happening in the town with being on the city council already. There was no learning curve and she was mayor pro tem. I think it was just a good choice.”

With the appointment of Lansman as mayor and Kellogg appointed as mayor pro tem,a vacancy is left on the council and Kellogg says they’ll appoint an individual to the council position at their next regular meeting in May. He adds that applications are now available at City Hall for anyone who is interested in being on the council.

Lansman will fill the rest of the mayoral term until the end of the year.
