Plans are underway over the next 3 years to ease traffic at the I-80/35 Rider corner connection to Highway 141. Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson attended a meeting in Des Moines recently laying out the blueprint for future plans.
“As it is now, if you are northbound on 80/35, to get off to 141 takes you on a cloverleaf back down and around to 141. As a result, traffic is often backed up to the interstate and off the ramp. Now, what they are going to do is add an interchange both ahead and after that corner and bring an actual flyover or ramp that goes over the interstate and down on to highway 141 heading north.”
The plan will happen in phases beginning as early as this summer.
“This summer the initial phase will be to add a lane to 141 going each way around the interchange with construction to follow in phases over the next couple of years.”
