Two bridge projects in Greene County by the Iowa Department of Transportation have been delayed.
Department of Transportation Construction Engineer Jenny Hoskins says the overpass bridge near Grand Junction on Highway 30, along with the West Beaver Creek bridge have been delayed at least two weeks. The projects were slated to start this week, but due to other projects with the contractor, it has been pushed back. Godbersen-Smith Construction is the contractor for the roughly $7.3 million project, with $6.4 million going toward the overpass bridge.
The overpass bridge will incorporate designs with the Lincoln Highway and the West Beaver Creek bridge will be replaced with a box culvert.
Hoskins says the projects are expected to be completed by November. Once the project begins, a detour will be in place. Motorists will go from Iowa Highway 169 to County Road E-26 to Iowa Highway 144. 222nd Street east of Grand Junction will be closed for the duration of the overpass bridge replacement project.
