West Central Valley’s Boys Track team is a bit larger than usual according to Coach Tony Hooper. Twenty-four athletes are likely to see time on the track this season, but youth also plays a factor in the composition.
“Twenty-Four is quite a bit more than we usually have, but out of those 24, sixteen are freshman and sophomores. So we’ve got a pretty young team with a lot of unknown commodities, but also a lot of interesting potential.”
Hooper says he will blend that new talent with his core of veterans for what he believes will be some very competitive relays and individual performances. The team’s first real test will be Monday as they kick off the regular season with a meet in Earlham at 4:30 p.m.
