A free resource focused on science, technology, engineering and math is available at the Greene County Extension office.
Six STEM-To-Go kits can be used for presentations in a variety of ways including student presentations in classrooms, homeschoolers, or even in community and civic groups. Some of the kits are are building a Balloon Hovercraft, which explores Newton’s Third Law of Motion and DNA Extraction, where you learn about the DNA of a strawberry. 4-H Coordinator Kayla Hyett says all of the kits are hands-on.
“Every single one of them gets kids involved. They all get to participate in one way or another. And a few of them have take home items that they get to make and then take home with them.”
The kits can be checked out on a weekly basis by contacting Hyett at the Extension office at 386-2138.
Funding for the kits came through a grant from the Greene County 4-H Foundation.
