A jury found a Perry man guilty of murdering three people.
According to court documents, a jury found 25 year-old Carlos Ventura-Hernandez guilty of three counts of first degree murder in Dallas County District Court Tuesday.
Two of the victims, 14 year-old Melany Elizabeth Barraza and her mother, 34 year-old Lourdes Flor De Leake were found dead in their home at 802 6th Street in Perry on October 30, 2016. A third victim, 78 year-old Juan Jimanez Tejeda was also attacked in the home and later died of his injuries in November. Evidence showed that Ventura-Hernandez used a machete in the attacks and killed his victims with blunt force trauma.
Ventura-Hernandez was arrested by the Morrison Illinois Police Department on October 31st. It was the first homicide in Perry since 1999.
An additional hearing is set for April 21st.
