Last Saturday, several Perry High School students competed at the 2017 Iowa State Individual Speech Contest held at Johnston High School.

The following students earned a 2 rating. John Borjas in lit program and prose, Lauren Benjamin in poetry, Madison Mason in radio news and original oratory, Alicia Calderon in poetry, and Allie Hopkins in acting and poetry. The following students earned a 1 rating with Devon Archer in prose, Camden Studer in public address, Rylynn Gilmore in prose, Kaylynn Bousman in storytelling and prose, Lauren Benjamin in radio news, and Sarah Sweet in prose.

The day was a special one for Cathy Peterson as it marked her final speech contest in what has been a busy speech career. Peterson has attended over 130 contests over her years at Perry.
