Although there are still five days remaining until the ACGC Charger boys track and field teams officially enter into the 2017 season, there’s still a lot of excitement floating around to witness the plethora of track and field talent in the area. ACGC is one of many area schools that year in and year out have phenomenally successful track and field seasons helping to make the region on of the “hubs” of track and field in the state of Iowa.
The Chargers alone between Adair-Casey and Guthrie Center have 12 individual state track and field titles to their credit. Raccoon Valley Radio got the chance to speak with ACGC head boys track coach Tyler Mosbach to get his take on the track success in the area, and he mentioned how it all starts with desire from the athletes.
“It starts with the kids’ desire to want to just be involved. Any time you start to see success in a sport, more kids want to be involved with that and want to be apart of that. Then there’s the opposite, if you don’t see a lot of success you start to see the numbers dwindle. The fact that we have success that continues to have more kids out,” explained coach Mosbach.
Coach Mosbach went on to further describe another reason as to all the success and he mentions the great coaching involved.
“In this area, I’ve been fortunate enough to be around some very good coaches. I think just the amount of passion the coaches have in this area, for this sport, really contributes to the success that the track and field programs have had,” explained coach Mosbach.
