A Jefferson man was recently sentenced for possession of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, 41 year-old Joe Edward Blackmon was sentenced to one year of probation after pleading guilty to an amended charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for his second offense for possession of meth. He was originally charged with a felony for possession of meth.
The judgement stems from an executed search warrant on June 10, 2016 at a rental property in the 400 block of East Vest Street in Jefferson. Police officers recovered multiple smoking devices with narcotic residue. Tests results from the Criminalistics Laboratory in Ankeny were positive for drugs.
He had his two year prison sentence suspended and placed on one year of probation. He was also ordered to pay over $300 in court costs, attorney fees and surcharges. Blackmon will also have his driver’s license revoked for 180 days. In his plea agreement, the state agreed to dismiss the simple misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.
