Severe thunderstorm warnings activated the Raccoon Valley Radio Network’s Severe Weather Action Team Monday afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches, that included  Greene, Guthrie and Dallas Counties as well as most other counties in central Iowa from around 3:30 to 7pm. Our Severe Weather Action Team provided live, wall-to-wall coverage due to the potential of strong, straight-line winds in excess of 60 miles per hour, hail and frequent lightning strikes along with the potential formation of a tornado.

Eight Raccoon Valley Radio staff members were in contact with WeatherEye meteorologists and local law enforcement during the storm.
