Tonight, the ADM Lady Tiger track and field team will be entering upon a bit of a schedule change as they kick off their 2017 season where they will be on the road for a meet at the University Of Northern Iowa.
Normally the tip off to the season for the Lady Tigers has come through Waverly at the Wartburg College meet but this season head track coach Bart Mueller starts the season in Cedar Falls for a couple big reasons. Coach Mueller spoke with Raccoon Valley Radio on the two main reasons being scheduling and the competitive, state meet environment that the UNI meet brings.
“It’s kinda more of a scheduling thing. We may get back at Wartburg but this year Wartburg’s on Tuesday night; we’re going to go to UNI (tonight). It’d be difficult to do both, it’d be such a long trip for everyone to be gone March 6th and 7th. This year we’re going to try the March 6th one at UNI which is more of a state wide meet. We’ll run into (tough competition). I just thought that with some of the things that happened last year at state; just with some of the girls we’ve got coming in I thought we’re ready to go right at and take on those top runners across the state and see where we stack up,” explained coach Mueller.
Coach Mueller and the Lady Tigers will be commencing their first meet action this afternoon in Cedar Falls beginning at 2:30 pm.
