With the official conclusion of the state tournament and the entire schedule, the last event on the docket before ending the 2016-17 wrestling season for Panorama will be the awards night banquet. This year the banquet will be held tonight beginning at 6:00 pm.

Head coach Jason Kirtley and his coaching staff will be honoring a Panther wrestling squad who earned a dual meet record of 18-8 and earned a spot in the dual meet regionals. Panorama earned a top five team finish in 5 out of 6 invitationals attended this year while earning top four finishes in 4 out of the 6 dual meet tournaments. All that was topped off with a program high 8 district qualifiers and 5 state qualifiers, all wrapped up with a program best three state place winners.

Despite the great season that Panorama wrestling endured in the 2016-17 campaign, in the never ending pursuit of perfection, coach Kirtley urges his team to strive for even more this offseason and to not become complacent.

“In the offseason just getting better still, not being satisfied with what we accomplished this year and setting a bar higher for next year. Five is the most we’ve ever gotten (at the state tournament), three is the most place winners we’ve ever had before. Just saying that was awesome, I was a part of that, how about not turning it into hey I set the bar higher ,” explained coach Kirtley.

Before the offseason work commences, the team will celebrate their season with their awards night banquet which once again will be held tonight and will commence at 6:00 pm.
