After ADM boys head basketball coach Aaron Mager and his team concluded with their awards banquet Thursday night, that officially brought the 2016-17 season to a close and officially opened up the offseason.
It has been a solid season for ADM who completed their second straight winning season after three straight loosing seasons. The last two seasons combined for 25 wins which more than doubled their win count from the 2012-13 season to the 2014-15 campaign.
The Tigers had a very similar nucleus of core players the past two straight seasons and as coach Mager told Raccoon Valley Radio, the success ADM enjoyed the past few seasons have come from those players in their caring for the game and their continued pursuit to become better.
“I feel like we were fortunate and pretty blessed to have guys who care about the game, care about working at their game and spend a lot of time working in the offseason. Whether that was on their own working on skill development or with stuff we do in the offseason, and then on their own behalf in the AAU circuit and other avenue’s that they do, the kids spent the time to be talented and good. Hopefully that’s a trend that our outgoing seniors have passed on our returning players that you have to work at the game, you just can’t cheat the game of basketball (because) there’s just too many skills to be developed if you don’t take a year round approach,” stated coach Mager.
The Tiger boys team graduates off a total of seven seniors in Payton Conrad, Jared Sapp, Sam McCartney, Tajen Ross, Matt Larson, Alec Gavin, and Carter Nordman.
