The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
At the meeting, the Board approved payroll change notices for the sheriff’s office, auditor’s office and information technology and secondary roads departments as presented
Board Chairman Mark Hanson then read a written status report update from architect Jerry Purdy with Design Alliance on the 902 Court Street building and the north campus projects. Hanson says the wall that is being constructed in the 902 Court Street building is going up quickly and he assumes they will be able to hold next week’s Supervisors’ meeting back in the board room as usual.
A billing adjustment request from Denise Hartz was then discussed. Emergency Medical Services Director Mike Thomasson stated that they responded to a call of a 24 year-old male patient actively seizing. Hartz and her husband Jay state the patient, their son, was taken to the wrong hospital. The Board decided to wait to take action until hearing a response from the insurance company.
A mobile application service contract for the EMS department was then reviewed. Thomasson requested the purchase of a mobile application that would allow them to have electronic access to protocols. says this is a convenient tool that is helpful for the staff and eliminates the need for paper books. Chapman questioned the necessity for the expense as the department could continue to use the paper binders that are currently kept in the ambulances. Thomasson says this is a good educational tool and more convenient for the department. He planned to spend educational funds on this service, money that was already budgeted for for a different training program that has since discontinued. There are electronic copies available in an online EMS manager but Thomasson said that isn’t accessible if there isn’t internet access. The Board took no action on the request.
A single axel spray truck purchase request was then reviewed an approved. The County will be purchasing a 2017 Hino 195 flatbed at a cost of $55,971, with the Living Roadway Trust Fund paying for $10,000 of it.
Future use of the 121 North 9th Street building was then discussed. Assessor Steve Helm has expressed interest in moving into the space as they does not have adequate room currently. The Board talked about several options, including the possible option of moving departments into the current jail facility if the bond referendum for a new law enforcement center passes. The Supervisors voted to allow the Assessor to move into the building, pending approval of the conference board.
The Board tabled the centralized purchasing workshop was tabled for a future meeting.
A facilities use plan for the human services campus was again discussed. The Board talked about various amenities they would like to have available in the kitchen portion of the building for renters to have access to. They walked through the space to talk about what commercial kitchen equipment to keep and what to dispose of. The Supervisors directed Operations Administrator Rob Tietz to move forward with the project.
