The Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in the county courthouse.

One main topic was the public hearing for the expansion of Mike Bravard’s livestock business of Bravard Finishers.  On Monday, Tim Healy with Greene County Sanitarian and Zoning presented to the board that Bravard Finishers scored 525 points on the matrix-which he pointed out as one of the highest scores he’s ever had-when 440 points was the minimum.

Yesterday, at the public hearing, citizens voiced their comments about the expansion.  All were positive and neighbors said that Bravard provides a clean, well run livestock business and have no concern about his expansion having any negative impact on them.  The board approved the expansion and recommendation to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for the expansion to take place.

Other main agenda items were more budget requests from county departments.  Greene County Central Point Coordinator Diane Jackson requested a little over $391,000 for mental health funds which is about a $200,000 decrease due to state funding cuts.  She also made a request for a 2% increase across the board for Genesis rates.

Other departments making budget requests were the County Sanitation asked for $77,178 with no change in the budget.  County Treasurer requested $274,529 while Veteran’s Affairs asked for $55,448 with little change to both budgets.  The County Data and Drainage asked for $144,952 and $31,921 respectively.

Last business items were a budget hearing scheduled for Emergency Management for February 11th and approval of the wage publication report.
