The Perry City Council met in regular session Monday.
During the City Administrators report, Sven Peterson reminded those in attendance of the Thanksgiving closures and garbage/recycling route changes.
Mayor Jay Pattee reminded everyone of the Lighted Christmas Parade coming up Friday, and the school district’s Physical Plant and Equipment Levy election on December 6th.
The Council then heard from the the Greater Dallas County Development Alliance as they shared their annual report. Linda Wunch thanked the Council for their support and partnership, along with Peterson for his service on the Board of Directors. She mentioned Perry’s certified sites and how those are being promoted to potential realtors and investors.
The Greater Des Moines Partnership then shared a presentation with the Council, outlining how being part of the group is beneficial to the City. The Council later approved membership in the Partnership, along with annual dues of $2,500.
The fifth pay request and final acceptance for the sanitary sewer cleaning project was approved in the amount of $5,680 to Accujet. The total cost of the project is $113,602.
Two additional yard waste disposal dates were then approved for Wednesday, November 30th and Wednesday, December 7th, weather permitting. Additionally, yard waste will be allowed November 28th through December 7th with the same rules as outlined earlier this fall.
A livestock within city limits request from Eugenio Ruiz Hernandez was then approved so that he is allowed to have hen chickens at his residence in the 2800 block of 1st Street.
A professional services agreement with Bolton and Menk was approved for design of a sally port at the public safety building in an amount not to exceed $22,000.
The City’s Tax Increment Financing debt was then certified to the County Auditor in the amount of $220,359. This is for the 2011 General Obligation bond payment, the Perry Economic Development agreement payment for Hy-Line International, annual dues for the Greater Dallas County Development Alliance and repayment of the interfund loan for the 2013 Hotel Pattee development agreement.
The fiscal year 2016 annual urban renewal report was then approved as required annually by December 1st, as was acceptance of the 2016 annual financial report.
A change to the Alliant Energy street lighting system was approved as the utility requested the removal of one street light on Willis Avenue.
Finally, the second and third readings of an amendment to the city’s official zoning map for the Sunflower Flats were approved.
