The Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau currently has a special Traffic Enforcement Program going on in the state.
Guthrie County Chief Deputy Jeremy Bennett says they are participating in the sTEP Wave and they will be looking for impaired drivers.
“Usually during the holiday seasons, really what we enforce is making sure that everybody’s driving and no one is impaired. We want to make sure there’s no fatality accidents involving impaired drivers.”
He talks about some reminders for those that might attend parties where alcohol may be served.
“If you have a few drinks, you should have somebody else driving or wait around and give that allotted time for your alcohol to get out of your system. But if you feel buzzed, never get behind the wheel.”
The current sTEP Wave is from November 20th through the 27th.
