tree trimmingYard waste burning is no longer allowed in the City of Perry this fall but residents will still be able to get rid of leaves and branches.

Public Works Director Jack Butler says crews picked up around 28 tons of yard waste last week alone. November 16th was originally scheduled to be the last pickup of the year but the department has extended the season.

“We’re going to throw down two more dates.  We will skip the week of Thanksgiving obviously but then the week after Thanksgiving we’re going to get it and then the week after that.  So please, if it stays nice and you can get those leaves picked up, it just cleans up the yard, cleans up the town, gets the storm sewers cleaned up and cleaned out.”

Those wanting to take advantage of the last two citywide yard waste pickups on November 30th and December 7th need to have items placed on the curb by 7am.
