Greene County High School sends its girls’ basketball team to the Iowa Central Community College Jamboree in Ft. Dodge tonight. Head Coach Dean Lyons told Raccoon Valley Radio the Rams meet Humboldt at 6:10 p.m. in the Tritons’ gymnasium in two quarters of action that will not count on the season record, but will get the girls used to game conditions.

Coach Lyons and assistant Jeff Lamoureux are both veteran coaches that are now in their second season in their respective coaching positions. The head coach was asked about the differences between year one and year two. “The second year means a lot. I’m a little more relaxed as a coach. Some of the kids I’ve had on the JV level in addition to the varsity. I’ve noticed this year we pick things up so much quicker, plus we did a lot of stuff in the off season. We went to some camps and played some ball, so that has helped.”

The Rams open the girls’ season on Tuesday, Nov. 22 in Monroe vs. PCM in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference game around 7:30 p.m. on KG98 and streamed “live” on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The first girl/boy doubleheader of the Greene County basketball season in Monday, Nov. 28 in Jefferson vs. Ogden.
