The Perry girls basketball team traveled to North Polk earlier this week for an exhibition 2 quarter jamboree in preparation for the upcoming high school season. The Jayettes return their top scorer in senior guard Grace Marburger. The lethal perimeter shooter led the Jayettes in 3-point field goals and Coach Mike Long is excited from what he is seeing so far in practice.
“Grace has really grown a lot this off season. She has always been a good shooter but I feel she has really worked on her ability to break down the defense off the dribble and take it to the hoop and not just settle for the outside shot. But to be honest, the area I think she has improved the most in the summer was on the defensive side of the ball. She is so crafty and good with her help out defense and she has always been an aggressive offensive rebounder.”
Perry will open up the season this Tuesday night at the Sports Pavilion against Newton. You can listen to the game on KDLS.
