Today we begin our coverage of the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors contested races.

The Republican incumbent for District Five is Mike Dickson. He is seeking his third, four-year term as Supervisor. The 37 year-old is a lifelong Guthrie County resident and graduated from West Central Valley High School. He also owns and operates two businesses in the Stuart and Menlo areas. One of the reasons he is running for re-election is because he wants to continue to ensure county residents that their taxes remain one of the lowest in the state.

One of the main issues he sees the county facing is infrastructure needs with roads and bridges. He believes that with increasing truck traffic, roads will continue to deteriorate and the county has to find ways to help fund those projects despite the state government putting more pressure on county’s to do so.

“Working with department heads within the county (and) working on budgets. We have a great county engineer here whose forward thinking on bridges and roads and we kind of have a plan set for that. We look for innovative ways to make it all work.”

You can hear more of Dickson on today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.

Dickson is running against Democrat challenger David Wood for Supervisor District Five.
