When Greene County (0-6, 0-4) plays host to Gilbert (5-1, 3-1) in high school football in Jefferson at Linduska Field tomorrow night, both teams have quarterbacks who aren’t real tall, but can both run and throw the ball. Gillbert’s Steven Lawrence, a senior, has more than 700 rushing yards and 800 passing yards for a team that has lost only to Boone this season and is fighting for a playoff spot.

Ram sophomore Clint Dennhardt is improving as shown by his rushing totals the last two games at 96 and 76  yards. Dennhardt also completed eight of 14 passes in the Sept. 30 loss at Boone, the first time in his seven varsity career starts he’s gone over the 50% mark in completions.

Greene County head football coach Dean Lansman said the improvement recently has not gone unnoticed. “He’s made great progress the last two weeks. He’s understanding checking down to shorter passes and getting rid of the ball quicker. A short passing game is just as good as a good running attack. He’s starting to see the field a little better and finding the open receivers. He’s growing and maturing, as are some of our other younger kids that are out there with him on both offense and defense.”

Game time on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com is 7:30 p.m. with football coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.
