It was a critical district match up on the road for the ADM Tiger football team last night as they took on the Monarchs of Denison-Schleswig.

It was a match up of 1-2 teams within district 7 play, with the winner keeping their playoff chances alive to gain ground on the rest of the district while the looser would say goodbye to their playoff chances with a devastating 3rd district loss. With a must win game on the line when all was said and done, the ADM Tiger football team put up 403 yards of total offense resulting in 6 touchdowns and a 42-20 victory.

ADM would present a fast and furious offensive attack that struck early and often putting up 21 first quarter points on the heels of three rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Sam McCartney took to the ground twice in that first quarter for scores while Matthew Dobrzynski also added a score with his 3 yard touchdown run to close out the scoring for the first quarter. After giving up back to back scores in the first four minutes of quarter number two, the ADM offense would answer right back on Matthew Dobrzynski’s second touchdown run of the night, this time from 11 yards out with 3:52 left in the first half. With no scoring after that the first half would end with the ADM Tigers earning a 28-13 halftime lead.

It would take some time before the scoring would pick back up with just 4:38 left in the third quarter as ADM quarterback Sam McCartney would cap off a 10 play, 80 yard drive on a one yard touchdown run. After taking that 35-13 lead the home town Monoarchs would claw their way back into the game taking 9 plays to cover 40 yards capped off by a Even Wiebers one yard touchdown run to decrease the ADM lead 35-20. From there it would only get worse for the hometown crowd as ADM would keep their foot on the proverbial gas pedal scoring with just 5 seconds left in the third quarter on an 8 yard touchdown pitch and catch from Sam McCartney to Austin Flora.

Leading the way through the air and on the ground for the Tigers was Sam McCartney going 15-29 through the air for 228 yards and one score while taking to the ground for 17 carries resulting in 78 yards and three touchdowns earned. Young star Gage Fuller had a big night as he led the Tigers in receiving hauling in 5 receptions for 75 yards. A much better job on third downs for the Tigers who converted 6 of their 11 total third down attempts.

With that much needed win, the Tigers now improve to 2-4 overall while keeping their playoff hopes alive in district play improving their district record to 2-2. The Tigers will trade the long drive to Denison this week for a home match up next week as they welcome in the Trojans of Atlantic for a 7:30 kick off.
