Greene County Medical Center held an open house last week to cap off their multi-year project.
The hospital added on 52,000-square feet to the east side of the campus and it includes services like emergency care, nursing, surgery, radiology and lab. That part of the project was completed last August. More recently, the medical center renovated the clinic spaces on the A Level including UnityPoint Clinic, Women’s Health Clinic, West Central Orthopedic Clinic and a podiatry clinic.
Board of Trustees President Jim Schleisman says getting the $22.8 million project completed was one of his major accomplishments while being on the Board.
“I’ve been on the Board for a good number of years and the thing of it is we’ve kind of been piece-milling the medical center to keep up with the modern times and for new equipment. But now, we have an up to date medical center.”
He adds that he’s satisfied with how the project turned out.
“Oh yeah, I am very impressed with it. The new outpatient offices that we have, the new administration offices that we have, it’s so comfortable and it’s so bright, it’s so airy you know, it’s so inviting.”
The medical center worked with HGA Architects and the general contractor was Woodruff Construction from Fort Dodge.
