A unique hunting season should be strong this year in Guthrie County.
Iowa Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer Jeremy King says a bird has returned to the county in its highest numbers in decades. “My quail population is the highest it’s been in twenty-something years. I think there’s some opportunity out there on our public areas, and if you have permission to use private hunting areas, to get after some quail this year — which is kind of a novelty in Iowa.”
Quail hunting season takes place from October 29-January 31.
