kyle-cuddyA Jefferson man remains in jail after being arrested Tuesday for failure to appear in court.

Police Chief Mark Clouse says 29 year-old Kyle Matthew Cuddy was arrested around 3:30pm Tuesday at his home in the 500 block of South Olive Street for two outstanding warrants.  The charge is failure to appear in court for a Class D Felony charge for third degree burglary and a misdemeanor for fifth degree theft.

We previously reported that in April, the police department investigated two alleged burglary incidents that occurred at the same residence in the 500 block of South Locust Street. A search warrant was executed at Cuddy’s home, where officers recovered several stolen items and he was arrested on April 28th. He appeared in court for one of the burglary charges, but not for the other.

The fifth degree theft charge stems from an incident on May 17th, when another search warrant was executed at Cuddy’s residence because he allegedly kept a dog that he was fostering from Unbreakable Bullies in Des Moines. He refused to give the dog back after the organization asked him to pay to own the canine when his fostering time period had ended.

He was booked and remains in the Greene County jail under a $5,000 cash only bond.
