The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday.
The Board met with Tim Smith, who has come forward as the third party interested in purchasing the former Country View Estates location, located on Redwood Avenue, south of Highway 44, between Guthrie Center and Panora.
Smith’s offer is the highest the Board has received for the property so far, beating Jeannene Willms and Brianna Rutherford’s conditional offer of $25,000, and Brenda Roses’ offer to buy the property as-is for $1. Smith told the Board he would beat the current-highest offer by $15,000. “ I’ll pay $40,000 for whatever acreage there is there.”
Smith adds that he’s not yet sure what he would end up using the structures on the property for, but says he would be interested in fixing the buildings up.
Board Chair Mike Dickson asked Smith if the County kept eight acres of farmland, if he would still be willing to make an offer. “Yeah, probably $32,000 (even without that eight acres of farmland there.)”
The Board is expected to re-address the issue at a future meeting.
