When the Greene County High School varsity football team gets on the bus to play at Webster City on Friday night, only the direction the bus travels will be different. The Rams played a scrimmage on August 19 vs. Panorama in Guthrie County at Panora, then opened the regular season with two non-district games on the road. The season opener was in Carroll County on Aug. 26 vs. Kuemper Catholic in Carroll and the second game on the year was in Shelby County vs. Harlan Community.

The only home game was last Friday vs. Dallas Center-Grimes to open Class 3A District 2 play. The game was close with the Mustangs winning 18-12, but rain forced officials to call off the Mini-Cheerleading, marching band, and color guard portions of the evening. A pregame BBQ scheduled by the Greene County Education Association was also scratched due to the weather.

The third road game this season takes the Rams to Hamilton County to face the Lynx, who, like the Rams are 0-1 in the district. Webster City is 2-1 overall and was ranked in the 3A top 10 for the preseason and first two weeks of the regular season before losing 31-25 to unbeaten Gilbert last Friday.

It’s homecoming this Friday for WC and you can hear the action on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
