A popular fall program that highlights the contributions of area Native Americans returns to Dallas County later this month.
Conservation Museum Curator Pete Malmberg says the Prairie Awakening Celebration has been set for Sunday, September 11th.
“This year we will feature one person, one very famous person, internationally known Sioux flute player Bryan Akipa. He will be doing all kinds of flute music stories and dances that he’s grown up with.”
The free event takes place from 5-9pm at the Kuehn Conservation Area. Everyone is invited and lawn chairs or blankets to sit on are encouraged.
