With day three of official first practices underway today marks day number four for the ADM Tiger volleyball team and the rest of the fall sports as they start up their 2016 season.

As players become acclimated to the new season coaches are always looking towards the returning experience as cornerstones to help their team progress during the season. For the ADM Tiger volleyball team one of those cornerstones would be Senior Sydney Bertman. Bertman has been a cornerstone for the Lady Tigers the past few seasons and was instrumental last season second on the team in both blocks (26) and assists (270), while showing her versatility with 120 kills. Bertman also showed her durability last season as only one of three players to have 96 sets under their belts.

Bertman has been sidelined over the summer however head coach Mary Beth Scott intends for Bertman to have a full season ahead of her. Coach Scott spoke with Raccoon Valley Radio about Bertman and what her summer absence showed the team.

” We have Sydney Bertman back and she has definitely impacted our line up for a couple years now. She’s coming off of surgery this summer so unfortunately not practicing with us as much but she’s such a natural athlete that she’ll just jump right back in. It kinda gave us a chance this summer because she was out to find another setter to run a 6-2,” stated coach Scott.

We’ll have more from coach Scott and her Lady Tiger team in tomorrow’s sports page.
