Wednesday was Media Day for the Greene County High School cross-country teams. Veteran head coach Kelly Simpson told Raccoon Valley Radio that 17 are out so far with some still on vacations, so that number could rise a bit. The girls out number the boys by a three-to-one margin at this point. One of the girls with a great deal of running experience is senior Olivia Hansen, who has been the Rams’ top female runner each of the last two seasons. She commented about the numbers out and said, “The team’s a little bit bigger, at least on the girls’ side, this year. Hopefully, we can just go out there and have fun and do our best.”

The Rams moved their home meet from the high school grounds in Jefferson to Spring Lake State Park northeast of Grand Junction in 2015, and will keep it there for the Sept. 8, 2016 Ram Invitational. Hansen said she liked the move. “It was a lot better. It was more scenic, so it went by faster, and I like it a lot!”
