Heads up for motorists in Jefferson.
Tomorrow the streets around the downtown square will be closing at 1pm for Hot August Night. Because last year’s entries were over 450, the blocks that surround the downtown square will also be closed with barricades. The public is asked to avoid parking in the downtown area when the barricades are in place until the event is over after 8pm Thursday.
Greene County Chamber Board President Ora Stevens hopes everyone can take advantage of visiting the local businesses around the square as well.
“I mean it’s a lot of traffic, a lot of people coming into Greene County, a lot of people coming into Jefferson that are here to check out the community and see what we have to offer. And there will also be shopping and looking in stores and checking out the town.”
The annual car, truck, motorcycle and tractor show will be from 5 to 8pm, with check-ins from 3 to 7pm on the west side of the square.
It’s free to attend and food will be available for purchase.
