Jefferson Police BadgeA Jefferson man faces a felony drug charge for a June incident.

Police Chief Mark Clouse says they’ve applied for an arrest warrant for 40 year-old Joe Edward Blackmon for a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of meth and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges stem from an executed search warrant on June 10th at a rental property in the 400 block of East Vest Street. Clouse says they recovered multiple smoking devices with possible narcotic residue. He points out that anytime there is residue on a smoking device and test results from the Criminalistics Laboratory in Ankeny comes back positive for drugs, then they can charge an individual with possession of a controlled substance.

Once the warrants are issued, Blackmon can either turn himself into authorities or police can arrest him. Once in custody, Blackmon will be booked into the Greene County jail.
