The City of Perry is moving forward with plans to add public art to the Raccoon River Valley Trailhead.
A services agreement with RDG Planning and Design was approved at this week’s City Council meeting and City Administrator Sven Peterson says this is part of a larger, trail-wide art project.
“Hopefully everybody has seen the trailside art project down in Waukee at their trailhead, it’s called ‘In the Shadow of the Rails’. So this is kind of the site planning and design and looking at where this piece of art would be best placed within our community. We have a couple places in mind. We’re going to do a walk through with them and hopefully be able to get some cost estimates and start fundraising for that.”
As we’ve reported, Waukee secured the last of the funding needed for their $1.1 million trailhead project last month thanks to a grant from Vision Iowa. Plans are to have the pergola completed by next summer.
