It was round three as the ADM Tiger baseball team was looking to steal a win away from the Carlisle Wildcats in the substate postseason opener Friday night.

The Wildcats took both regular season match ups form the Tigers and went on to take the Raccoon River Conference crown but in the third match up between these two teams ADM had shown great improvement from game one and sought to display it Friday.

The game started off in similar fashion to game two back in Carlisle where ADM fell into an early 3-0 deficit where they eventually game stormed by to tie the Wildcats. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the similarities stopped there however as Carlisle would take the reigns from there.  The Wildcats stayed sharp in the field reducing their 5 error count in the last match up to 0 for the night. On the mound for Carlisle sophomore Nic McCay would stifle an ADM line up who came into the contest on a hot streak facing one over the minimum, striking out 10 Tiger batters.

The Tiger line up just couldn’t seem to match their last performance against he Wildcats earning just one hit in the ball game which was eventually thwarted by shortstop Nate Mortimore’s double play off the bat of Kade Overton. The speed that plauged Carlisle for the 5 errors vanished last night as both great fielding and great pitching forced a 0 in the run column for the Tigers.

After Carlisle put up 2 runs in the first inning they added one more in the third, two more in the fourth, while shutting the door on ADM putting up a 5 run sixth inning to end the game early winning it 10-0.

On the mound for ADM Chase Ritchie’s off speed approach had the hard hitting Carlisle line up off balance for a portion of the contest but wasn’t enough to keep them at bay for long as he went 5 2/3 innings of work, walking two, striking out one, while being credited with 5 earned runs and taking the loss.

With the loss ADM will unfortunately end their 2016 campaign with a 3-29 record, 218 hits, 107 RBI’s, and 2 home runs. Despite the win/loss column the Tigers end the season not without strengths and positives. Raccoon Valley Radio sat down with ADM head coach Jason Book to talk about those positives after the game.

“The last two and a half weeks these guys played with a lot of heart and put some really good ball games together. The hard work that they put in before practice and on their own time before games was really paying off,” stated coach Book.
