Jefferson Parks and Recreation continues to offer free swimming lessons next week.

Director Vicky Lautner says Home State Bank is sponsoring free swimming lessons from July 18th through the 22nd for the first 50 registrations. The classes will be from 10 to 11am for level one through five swimmers. She points out that the importance for everyone to take the classes to help keep themselves safe when in the water in all situations.

“Children need to know how to swim, especially when we have a river right next to us in Jefferson. So I think if kids know some of the water safety, because they do, do that during some of the lessons. Plus, they can learn how to tread water or maybe save yourself if you get in the water and you’re a little nervous about it.”

Lautner adds that Home State Bank is sponsoring their fifth free swimming lessons, which she couldn’t be happier to offer to the public.
