The ADM Tiger baseball team was looking to steal a win away from class 3A’s 5th ranked Pella Dutch in their final regular season contest of the 2016 season.
The Tigers had a well played game against a Pella squad ranking inside the top 15 in runs produced on the season holding the Dutch to just three on the night.
The only blemishes against the Tigers on the scoreboard game in the first three innings of play as the Dutch put up two runs off of four hits in the first inning and adding one more in the third off of two hits. ADM would give up nine hits but hold Pella to just those three runs off a pretty clean night from the field with just two errors, both of which game in the latter innings not leading to any runs for the Dutch.
As for the ADM bats, they would be held to just five hits on the game, oddly enough not within the final two innings where the Tigers stormed back pushing across one run in both the 6th and 7th innings. The Tiger surge would be stopped there however as the Dutch shut the door on ADM’s comeback and hold on for the 3-2 victory.
Both teams will now have a slight 2 day break before they enter postseason play. For the Tigers that means a third match up against the Wildcats of Carlisle as the two teams will square off at Dallas Center-Grimes.
