Peter Bardole and Jack Williams were the winners of Tuesday’s Republican primary election in Greene County.

According to the Greene County Auditor’s office, the contested race for the Republican candidacy for Sheriff saw Williams defeat Kirk Hammer with 752 votes to 339 votes. The other contested Republican race was for Supervisor District Five where challenger Bardole defeated incumbent Guy Richardson by 66 votes, 567 to 501.

The rest of the local races were uncontested. Republican incumbent for Auditor, Jane Heun received 883 of the 885 ballots that were cast; Republican incumbent for Supervisor District Four John Muir received 867 of the 873 votes; Democratic candidate for Supervisor District Four Todd Madson had 155 of the 157 votes; and Republican incumbent for Supervisor District One Mick Burkett received 817 of the 827 ballots that were cast.

As for the state races, Greene County voters chose Deb Duncan as their Democratic candidate for State Representative District 47 as she defeated George Ensley 132 votes to 60 votes. Duncan will run against Republican incumbent Chip Baltimore, who ran unopposed. For State Senate District 24 it will be Republican incumbent Jerry Behn against Democratic challenger Keith Puntenney.

Republican incumbent Steve King defeated Republican challenger Rick Bertrand with 59 percent of the vote for US Representative District Four and he will be running against Democratic candidate Kim Weaver. Greene County voters elected Democratic candidate Patty Judge with 137 votes to challengers Robert Hogg who received 70 votes, Thomas Fiegen who received 18 votes and Bob Krause who received ten votes. Judge will run against Republican incumbent Charles Grassley.

The Greene County Auditor’s office reports that there was only a 20 percent voter turnout with 1,364 ballots cast of the 6,710 registered voters.

All results are unofficial until the Greene County Board of Supervisors canvass the votes at their Monday meeting.
