Ballard rallied for a pair of 2-out unearned runs Thursday night in the bottom of the 7th inning in defeating Perry 3-2 in Raccoon River Conference softball. The Jayettes appeared to be in control heading into the bottom of the 7th inning after Johanna Diw belted a RBI double in the top of the 7th inning to give Perry a 2-1 lead. However, the Bombers countered with 2 runs in their final at bat thanks to two 2-out errors by the Perry defense. The Jayettes committed 5 errors on the night.
Emma Olejniczak went the distance allowing 5 hits and 3 walks to go along with 8 strikeouts. None of the runs allowed were earned.
Alyssa Kruger delivered an RBI in the 6th inning.
Perry falls to 2-5 in RRC play and will return to action this morning with a 10:00 game against Ogden in the opening round of the Woodward Granger Classic. The Jayettes will play at Woodward Saturday as well with a 12 noon battle against Council Bluffs AL and a 4:00 showdown with Madrid.
