With a recent executive order enacted by President Donald Trump to ban people from 12 countries from traveling to the United States, an Iowa-based senator provides his stance on the matter.

President Trump signed the order on June 4th to restrict entry of citizens from Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen due to alleged national security and public safety concerns.

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley believes that President Trump gave proper justification to making the decision as there is a growing trend towards anti-semitism in the country. He references recent alleged anti-semitic attacks in Boulder, Colorado and Washington D.C. within the past month. Grassley commends Trump’s ability to take swift action.

“I think it’s the president’s effort to protect not just Jewish people, but the entire public, so I think it’s legitimate. For the most part, I think it’s well thought out.”

Grassley stresses that the executive order has plenty of exceptions, such as people that possess green cards, or individuals who have connections with American citizens. President Trump’s Executive Order went into effect on June 9th.
