The Jefferson Municipal Swimming Pool will be open soon for the season, and the Parks and Recreation Department is looking for a few more lifeguards.

JPRD Assistant Director Henry Pohlmeyer says the pool is planned to be open by the Memorial Day weekend and there are not many lifeguard openings available.

“So yeah, naturally with the opening of the pool, we do need a couple more lifeguards. So there is still applications available. I think we’re shooting for about 16 is the optimal amount and we’re just under that. So if you’re interested, it’s limited space, first come first served ideally. So hurry up and get those lifeguard applications in.”

Pohlmeyer points out that there will be on-site training for all lifeguards, with certified CPR as a requirement. Individuals must be at least 15 years old to apply. Contact the Greene County Community Center at 515-386-3412 or stop by to learn more.
